Specialties
The work is organized around what people actually bring us. Most clients arrive with more than one of these at once, because they were never separate to begin with.
Sexual orientation
Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer clients. Relationships and dating. Sex, desire, and the gap between what you want and what you do. Intimacy and its avoidance. Coming out, at any age. Loneliness that doesn't lift with company. Substance use. Shame and self-worth carried since long before you could name it.
Trans & gender-expansive people
Support through questioning, transition, and everything after, for trans and non-binary adults. The practical parts, and the harder, slower ones: telling people, being seen differently, grief and relief arriving in the same week.
Trans youth & families
Dedicated work with trans and gender-questioning young people, and separately with their parents. Adolescents get their own confidential space. Parents get somewhere to put fear, disagreement between caregivers, and the difference between supporting a child and managing your own anxiety about them. We do not treat a young person's gender as a symptom to be resolved.
Couples & relationships
Partners in every configuration — monogamous, open, polyamorous, long-distance, newly serious, decades in. Also the other bonds that shape a life: family of origin, friendship, chosen family. Recurring subjects: mismatched desire, secrecy, money, caretaking, whether to stay.
Bodies, food, and eating
Hunger is about food, but what a person is hungry for gets confused with other unmet needs. The body becomes a place where struggles that began long before there were words for them get enacted. We work with eating disorders and body image — and with people whose relationship to appetite and control has never had a diagnosis attached to it.
Sex therapy
Sex treated as a subject in its own right, not as an aftershock of something else. Desire and its absence, compulsivity, kink, function, pain, fantasy, monogamy agreements, sex after transition, sex after trauma.
How we work
Kip has practiced in this area since 2014. The work is deliberate and rigorous — attentive to history, to patterns, and to the parts of experience that are hard to put into words.
Most clients meet weekly; some more often. Some stay a season, some stay years. For general psychotherapy outside these specialties — and for work covered in network by insurance — our sister practice Dr. Kull & Associates shares the same office.
